Elberta Sausage Festival = Great Success
80% chance of rain all day on Saturday, with a high chance of severe weather. For a week, that is all we worried about. Tommy Stanton and Cody Maley, two of our agents here at EXIT Realty Gulf Shores, decided to go in together and get a booth at the bi-annual Elberta Sausage Festival.
Elberta, a small town 13 miles North East of Gulf Shores, is a rapidly growing town. With Foley's growth on the rise, people are moving outside the city limits and Elberta is a great area. With many people interested in the area, Tommy and Cody's idea was great. They decided to order kuzzies that would have both of their information on it, and have a slogan. Leave it to Tommy to come up with a funny but cleaver saying, "Keep it Cold and Get it Sold." Fishing is popular in the area, so they also raffled off a rod and reel.
Elberta Sausage Festival is bi-annual festival that takes place in March and October. It's put on by the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department, and it offers German sausage made only for this festival. It has over 200 booths of arts, crafts, food, and much more. It draws in people from all over South Alabama, Florida, and other areas. Being that this event brings in so many people from all over, getting a booth was a brilliant idea.
As stated above the weather was supposed to be very bad come Saturday, once Saturday arrived it was cloudy but pretty. The chance of severe weather was pushed back until early afternoon. We had the first part of the day to enjoy the festival. Tommy and Cody had set up the booth, and it looked great. By 10am the cookies they were handing out, were gone, along with all the EXIT Realty tote bags. Needless to say, we were a popular stop.
We would check the weather and each time the bad weather was pushed back, but we did still have to deal with one of mother nature's elements....THE WIND. There would be a nice breeze and all of sudden the wind would pick up and almost take our tent, it kept us on our toes. We got to see so many of familiar faces, along with some new faces. Cody and Tommy both got some great leads, people interested in joining real estate (hopefully with the EXIT family), and we all got plenty of great memories.
Oh, and that bad weather??? It moved in around 7/7:30 and lasted maybe 45 mins to an hour.
